Comedy compèring.

Compères need to add humour to an event. It’s their job. It’s kind of similar managing a meeting or delivering a presentation – they all need a sprinkling of humour. But so many people don’t consider adding anything remotely funny. Any ideas why?
Humour keeps people listening, engaged, remembering. Please, if you’re delivering a presentation or talk, slip in something funny – even in the moment works too – so be brave. On behalf of your audience, thank you. It’ll be so much better and there’ll be less snoring from the back!
There wasn’t a moment on Tuesday last, when the audience had to wait for a laugh. Well actually, they did, but only for the all-important set-up of a joke (pausing/timing/anticipation for the punchline). It was the end of course showcase at Exeter City Gate and everyone delivered first class sets that were hilarious. Proud of them all. You can come and watch lot's of them live at our Nov Mash-Up, and there's a short workshop beforehand if you fancy learning a few comedy tricks of the trade.
And here are four testimonials as to why people come…
‘It’s a lovely space that’s safe and comfortable to try and learn new stuff. You’ve gotta do it!’ Matt Bick‘
A lot of fun! Confidence building. If you’re ever thinking about it… DO IT!’ Penny Baines‘
If you’re interested in comedy and want to give it a go, this is a great way to ease into it. If you already do stand up it’s a great way to sharpen your skills.’ Sam Coleslaw‘
Brilliant supportive atmosphere, where everyone feels 100% safe to experiment.’ Claude Le-Crepe
Join us in November (Exeter & Exmouth). No pressure to write anything funny or be funny. Promise. If you deliver talks, presentations or manage meetings, and want to add a dose of humour, come along. Or if you want to feel better – we can help.
As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
