ED FEST?

Help (and wisdom) very much appreciated…

Years ago, I performed at the Edinburgh Festival as walkabout Baroness Elsa (check her out). What a hoot. Gloriously edgy. Risqué! It's amazing what women in their 40s (sometimes earlier/later) start doing. I did a PhD and this performance was part of my exploration into female clowning. The six-inch stiletto, thigh-length boots (which you can't see) were excruciatingly painful - the things women do for art - and life!

Now I’m itching to return to Edinburgh— this time with a gang of comedians — delivering nightly short sets. I’ve written to a few venues already, but if you know of a space that might be near-perfect - and/or somewhere to stay, please drop me a line. Ta very much.

New year, new Exeter comedy courses — high-energy, hugely creative, and joyfully enjoyable. From March, in Exeter, we are also going to be running a comedy writing and performing course on Monday evenings in addition to the very popular Tuesday course.

Apologies to Exmouth and East Devon folk: I’m not running a class there this Jan–Feb. If you’re in this vicinity and would like a comedy course, in March, shout — I’m listening. I started off in Exmouth, so it would be lovely to build up some comedy classes and performances there.

Next week’s one-off comedy class on Thursday evening, before the Mash-Up comedy night, zooms in on your individual and unique take on a vaiety of topics. Expect to work on tension, timing and perfect/imperfect punchlines. Course feedback on from a previous participant: ‘Great for getting out of my own head’. Give it a go.

Can’t make any classes? Then come along to my monthly Mash-Up at City Gate in Exeter. Expect brand-new comedians popping their cherry (wooooo!), alongside excellent, lovely-jubbly performers all sharpening their skills — stage presence, timing, gurning, clowning, wordplay and more. Ooh and there's a double-act for the first time ever! Can't wait...

Please support if you can. Laughter needs witness.

As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
