The Comedy Doctor...

TICK TOCK...

“Are you the comedy doctor?” asked an eminent professor. “Yes!” I replied, with a smile. I liked the title he'd given me. “Are you coming to my comedy workshop this afternoon? I asked." “Unfortunately, not,” he responded, “I would have loved to, but I am delivering a talk.” “I hope you’ve included a sprinkle of humour?” Thinking about my workshop. He confessed, there had been some comedy in it originally, but it had been cut out – it might have upset some people and turned them off his talk. “No,” I said, “you don’t want that to happen. Maybe a little self-deprecation at the start, will help win people over?” After his presentation, he glanced over with a smile; gave a thumbs up gesture and mouthed, “Thank you.”

I love my job. It’s great to give and receive tips. If you have any to share, please do. The last tip I received was to place a bet on the 4:20 at Epsom Racecourse... Crafting comedy is serious business. I have a seriously transformative clown class for women+ coming up on Saturday 18 March at Exeter Phoenix. Plenty of tips and tricks of the trade. My current stand up comedy course finishes in approx a fortnight – 21 March. If you fancy building skills in crafting comedy; playing for laughs and bolstering your confidence join us.

If you can’t make it in person, then join us for some fun and learning, online – starting – 22 March. And another in-person 6 week stand up comedy course starts on 11 April, at the usual time of 7-9pm. Watch this space as the next round will have some exciting changes!

As usual, big thanks and love from Maggie and the Comedy Matters team - and have a great week :)
