Tinsel, Toes & Tehees

ree

This time of year can feel a bit… much, can’t it? Tinsel everywhere, diaries bursting, emotions hurling themselves floor-wards like baubles on a wonky tree. I’m feeling a tad wonky myself. Lots of wonderful things happening — plus a sprinkling of seasonal and pre-marital pressure – no wonder my nails are a little worse for wear. Oh and here is the tree out of the loft. Not yet decorated as you can see; slightly wonky, and yet to be hurling its baubles at the floor in a bout of histrionics!

First up: our end-of-course showcase for the Seascapers Comedy Course is in Exmouth on Monday 8 December. What a gorgeous, bold bunch they are — some flexing their funny bones for the very first time. Last week I taught them the art of relaxation: clench and release. (A technique best used carefully, especially in public.) I love the double-entendre of some of these comedy disciplines.

Do come along to Sundowners Wine Bar at 7pm to watch them. It’s free, it’s friendly, and it’ll bring you more cheer than your third glass of mulled wine — and with fewer regrets.

Meanwhile… I’m getting married in the afternoon. Ding dong merrily on high! Actually, it’s nine days away and I still haven’t written my speech and I’m trying to NOT mention EVERYONE who means something in my life. There are SO many of you! It reminds me of the time I once helped a father of the bride with his speech, who, in his first draft failed to mention his daughter at all - oops. Bold choice or perhaps a wee error, but I did suggest gently, it may be good to give her a cameo appearance. It all worked out in the end and the speech was a success. Fingers and toes crossed for mine!

So: note to self — loosen the reins, enjoy the ride, ignore the glitter on the carpet.

Note to you — may you find pockets of joy among the chaos.

And if you need a good laugh to survive December, join us on Monday 29 December in Exeter (City Gate Hotel) for our FESTIVE Comedy Night Mash-Up. Because nothing lifts the spirits faster than laughter.

As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)

Here are a few testimonials if you're thinking of joining us next year…

"Do it! Do it! Do it! I thought it would take me out of my comfort zone, but it’s taken me more into my comfort zone that I have ever been! Thank you!"

"It’s a release!"

"It’s a brilliant opportunity to laugh & bring some silly into your life, with a sense of freedom & safety to explore other perspectives."
