Where to go on a rainy day? Prison!

My family and some friends visited Devon this week and I decided to introduce them to Dartmoor.
And yes — I absolutely picked the weather.
We visited Dartmoor Prison Museum. It was almost empty, apart from a wonderfully knowledgeable chap on reception. Go visit — the museum, not the prison itself, which is currently closed while high radon levels are addressed.
Despite the rain and mist, it was good to be together. My family live in the North, so these moments felt precious. We laughed at the humorous weathervane outside (proof that even the bleakest places can’t resist a joke), before I was quietly aghast at the dark history housed within those granite walls.
A reminder, perhaps: wherever you are this coming week — and whoever you’re with — try to find small pockets of humour inside dark or difficult narratives. Sometimes they’re the only way through…
Give a mate, family friend or yourself the gift of comedy this Christmas. Four spaces left on the January stand up course and if you miss out, check out our short workshop also in January: Create a Comedy Character. If you can’t make these then there’s another course kicking off in March and loads of other chances to try your hand at something new.
All details are on the events page!
As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
