Comedy, Climate… and a Few Seagulls!

I’m currently running two comedy writing courses — one in Exmouth and the other in Exeter — and both are buzzing with creativity and laughter.
Each session involves standing up and sharing — because if no one ever spoke, we’d all just sit there wondering if our material was actually funny!
This week’s Exmouth class took on the themes of seagulls, sewage, and cigarette butts — three unlovely things that, on a serious note, all link back to pollution and the threats it poses to wildlife.
But through comedy, the group turned these issues upside down. From sharp one-liners to wonderfully ridiculous characters, everyone found a fresh and funny angle. The Sideshore Hub by the Sea in Exmouth was absolutely awash with laughter.
If you’d like to learn how to turn life’s challenges into comedy gold, get in touch — it’s a real tonic for the spirit.
Last night, in Exeter, we played with creating comedy christmas characters based on the spelling of our names backwards … No turkeys - but plenty to laugh at. Alternative christmas cracker jokes was a highlight, which cracked us all up, as was the warming support for each contribution. Lovely people! Looking forward to their seasonal superheroes next week.
Lots of healthy, silly fun!
As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
