Whipping Up Cooking Metaphors and More!
Fancy helping to cook up a storm at this year’s Exmouth Festival? Loosely based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest, this playful adventure invites you to join in, showcase your acting skills, and improvise some key scenes — or simply sit back and savour the action.
Aimed at both adults and children, you’ll magically whip up a ship, stir up a storm, and find yourself marooned on an island with a disgruntled local, Caliban; Prospero, a powerful magician banished from Milan; Miranda, his curious daughter; and the mischievous spirit Ariel, bound in service to Prospero.
Things really start to heat up when Prospero’s enemies (from Milan), newly shipwrecked, get caught in his magical schemes. Ooooh — and wouldn’t you know it, one of them deliciously drops cake-over-pastry in love for Miranda. Ha! The course of true love never did run smooth.
But if music be the food of love - enough to whet your appetite - then a heady mixture of magic and revenge awaits like a tempered glossy chocolate on a crunchy cornflake treat.
It’s completely free! But you’ll need to book your spot.
Run by the dynamic drama team Maggie Irving & Claire Hadfield, this tasty and tantilising improv workshop will help untangle the stew of the shipwrecked and conjure up a delectable dish of culinary drama.
Are we exhausted with culinary methaphor peeps? Why not add your own...
As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
