How did you celebrate yours?
Mine was nuts!
Bank Holiday weekend: Prosecco, barbecue, and a monster egg hunt. Seventy-five mini eggs and six Cadbury cream eggs were lovingly hidden in a garden – not my garden. The one small child there lost interest after finding the thirty-third egg. He wanted to eat ‘em all up! Sensible chap. Interestingly, it was the adults who jumped to action and then strived to locate the last concealed creme egg; it quickly became competitive: racing to the compost heap, searching pockets of clothes on the washing line, and frantically checking under rocks like two year olds. The remaining Easter treat was discovered under the rain drain grate – try saying that after three glasses of fizz – and don’t worry, the egg was perfectly clean. Actually, I'm only an occasional fan of cacao. I'd rather eat nuts. It was a good job these were not scattered around the premises or they would have been hoovered up, in under thirty seconds! A couple of alcoholic beverages can often engender playfulness and silliness, although I really don’t need booze to achieve this. Those that know me will understand I find it harder to ‘not’ play. My entire clown training resulted in me engaging in and encouraging more of it. None-the-less, the loosening of composure and appearance of the ‘inner child’ was a delight. Who would have thought a few chocolate eggs would cause such fervour! (Although, my Prestonion tradition of two people rolling their eggs towards one other, at speed, put me in good stead!) Indeed, I will encourage creative play and thinking on Tuesday evening – 11 April. It’s the start of my Spring comedy writing and performing course. Escaping into a little silliness is always fun. Eggs not provided on this occasion – sadly – but the wonderful Exeter City Gate Hotel does offer a range of delicious tipples and scrummy food. I do have two spaces left on the course if anyone fancies large doses of delicious humour; a chance to build confidence along with some special life enhancing skills.
As usual, big thanks and love from Maggie and the Comedy Matters team - and have a great week :)
