A Smorgasbord of Awards! How Wonderful!
Next week (Thursday), I’m off to perform at the Devon Tourism Awards 2025 ceremony at Sandy Park. If you’re there, say hello.
I'm a finalist in the Women in Education category of the West Country Women in Business Awards. And the ceremony is also next week - Friday. Congrats to all — you brilliant, dazzling, women. Exciting times!
I recall the first award I ever won at school: First Year Progress. (Translation: “She’s trying very hard — someone give her a book.”) We got to choose our own prize, and I picked Walk on the Howgill Fells by A. Wainwright.
My grandparents had a second home in Tebay, right next to the Howgills, and I loved fellwalking. Honestly, twelve-year-old me was THRILLED to receive a book that may have been given in order to stop me talking for a few minutes! It didn't really work. But I've still got the book!
There have already been some prize-worthy performances this week at my comedy classes. Come have a go. Steve from my Exmouth course emailed after Monday’s lesson saying, “Really enjoy these evenings, learning so much and simply having loads of silly fun 😁 Thank you.”
Thank you, Steve — the fastest and funniest guitar player in East Devon!
Join us for the next Stand Up Comedy Mash-Up on 29 December at Exeter City Gate — perfect timing for escaping your family between Christmas cheese courses — or hop onto my next Exeter comedy course in January.
