I have half-drunk mugs of tea throughout the day. Do you? Is the answer to make only half a mug of tea – or would that mean I only drink one quarter instead!?
Doing things by halves isn’t usually me at all, except for tea drinking (honest).I think I lose interest or get distracted, though this isn’t the case when it comes to portions of apple crumble or sundaes – I wonder why? Selective boredom/ forgetfulness…. Thoughts or similar stories?
Someone remarked that my comedy courses are always different, and do I have a huge bank of strategies to teach the skills. And my answer was a resounding yes I do, and that is why and how I am able to offer new ways of learning; varied tasks and methods to tackle ‘finding the funny’, and most importantly – safely support my clients in ways that suit them personally.
Teaching involves reading the class, finding out about them from a variety of angles including why they have signed up and creating sessions that meet the needs of the participants. And people return because practice in this art form is essential as is the need to write and write and write.
Some exercises are repeated, because they work, but over time I have introduced many more improv and play activities to the sessions to not only get people in the mood to be silly and non-judgemental (of themselves) but also, as a mode to elicit comedy gold and have fun.
If you want to play, need to develop skills in storytelling, delivering speeches or do stand up, please get in touch. Your comedy repertoire and presence will grow as will your confidence, and you will have fun – one of the many reasons people come to my sessions...
On the note of drinking, I attended a screening of
Prima Facie, NT Live, at Matthews Hall, Topsham. In the pre-show raffle, I won first prize - SIX bottles of wine! Every drop will be savoured…
And now for that tea… oh.
As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
