FESTIVE GREETINGS AND GOODBYE… FOR NOW.
It’s been a great year in terms of staying alive… and thriving. Always the aim, though sometimes it is a challenge. Winter Solstice is a perfect time to look back and find the fab moments of 2023. What are yours?
I firmly believe in ensuring that each day has moments of joy, no matter how small. Only this morning I was in a fun battle with a Miele Complete C3 vacuum cleaner and my PA – trying to hoover each other. I mean, you had to be there, it was silly and suck fun, I mean such fun!
Finding the funny in the everyday is so important and can often be the best material for storytelling and stand up. Thanks to all the people who have taken the bold step to stand up and be seen – wow it is satisfying. I’ve watched new comedians take to the stage both locally and at The Edinburgh Festival – huge congratulations.
I shall be back to teaching in the New Year.
Any women out there feeling grumpy or even mad? Use comedy to purge anger, improve your mood and let it all hang out. I'm starting a new group for funny women to get together and support each other in their comedy writing and performing journey. We will improvise, clown, write and generate a whole lot of joy – even get playfully mad - but not with electrical equipment! First session Monday 8 January at 7pm.
For people who want to learn how to be a stand up or generate new stand up comedy sets for 2024, join me on Tuesday 30 January for a course in comedy writing.
But the Comedy Matters comedians are going out of 2023 with a bang – yes, a final comedy Mash-Up at Exeter Citygate on Thursday 28 December. Be great to see some old and new faces.
Oooooooo, and a new Clown Workshop is scheduled for 2 March.
Make a resolution to be funnier, bring more joy into your days in 2024.
Happy Solstice lovely people.
Peace and Love Maggie and the team :)
