Letting it all out!

My online comedy course finished last night. We had a small but very appreciative audience, who also brought additional laughter to the session by sharing their humorous takes on life. Congratulations and thanks to all participants - fantastic working, laughing and ranting with you! All funny people. :) I focused on pain and discomfort this week - both online and in-person courses in Exeter. The honesty and vulnerability expressed by participants, produced unique perspectives on known and not so well-known problems. I won’t reveal all here, but I do know that sharing feelings can lead to laughter and a feeling of catharsis. Also, it's educational - if only you were there! My final assessed performance of my BA in Theatre and Performance at Plymouth University, was stand up/clowning. The show focused on dating after divorce: giving birth, and the death of my dad. Even now, I recall lecturers writhing in laughter, and I fleetingly acknowledged – this is going well. Phew. If you have stuff you want to get off your chest, then join us on the next online course AND a CLOWNING workshop in-person at ExeterPhoenix. If you prefer a one-to-one session then let me know. We are all unique but can learn so much from one another through story-telling and comedy. Crafting comedy now – 20 years on after that first show – means new topics and new observations of my world: The struggle to remember; ADHD diagnosis and the power of the pelvic floor. Are you doing yours? Ten seconds – NOW.

Down in Cornwall today - cream on top! Sorry, dear Devonians.

As usual, big thanks and love from Maggie and the Comedy Matters team - and have a great week :)
