My amazing mum is 94.5...
In 2022, the estimated population of England and Wales aged 90 years and over grew by 2.1% compared with 2021 - so now 550,835 people.
The number of centenarians has more than doubled since 2002, with an estimated 15,120 centenarians living in England & Wales in 2022.Office for National Statistics.
At 94.5 years of age, my mum still plays whist and reads and reads and reads.
Memory can be dodgy – but so can mine! I still take her on whist holidays - she's darn good at the game too. We also do crosswords together - takes a lot more time these days. I occasionally use the internet to find the answers. It's much more satisfying remembering though... Off to see her again soon.
Recently, a guy mentioned he felt old at 40 to start a comedy career. Elizabeth Smith - aka Nana from The Royale Family, didn't start her acting career until she was in her 50s! So, NO! You're never too old to flex your funny bones and learn how to be a stand up comedian. My courses are filled with people from 20 - 70+ but my mum is not one of them... yet...
Our next stand up comedy Mash-Up is on 6 June at Exeter Citygate. A pre Exeter Comedy Festival comedy night out. See you there whatever your age...
As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
